Propycil (propylthiouracil) is an antithyroid medication used to treat hyperthyroidism by reducing the production of thyroid hormones. It is primarily prescribed when other antithyroid drugs (like methimazole) cannot be tolerated, during the first trimester of pregnancy, or to manage life-threatening “thyroid storm” emergencies.
