Suitrox is a combination antibiotic that contains sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. This synergistic combination is used to treat various bacterial infections by targeting different steps in the bacterial folic acid synthesis pathway.

- Mechanism of Action:
- Sulfamethoxazole inhibits the synthesis of dihydrofolate, while trimethoprim inhibits the conversion of dihydrofolate to tetrahydrofolate. Together, they effectively disrupt bacterial growth.
Usage:
- Dosage: Follow the dosage prescribed by your healthcare provider. The typical adult dosage may range from 800 mg/160 mg (sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim) taken twice daily for a specified duration, depending on the infection being treated.
- Administration: Take the tablets with a full glass of water. It is advisable to take them with food to minimize gastrointestinal upset.
Precautions:
- Allergies: Inform your healthcare provider if you have a history of allergies to sulfonamides, trimethoprim, or any other antibiotics.
