HubPharm Unveils Innovative AI Health Companion, AFIYA
In a landmark development for digital health in Africa, HubPharm has officially launched AFIYA, Africa’s first multimodal and multilingual AI health companion, designed to reshape healthcare access and chronic disease management. The innovation was unveiled in commemoration of World Pharmacy Day 2025, aligning with this year’s global theme: “Think Health, Think Pharmacist.”
Pharm. Sesan Kareem, managing director of HubPharm and innovator of AFIYA disclosed to Pharmanewsonline in an exclusive interview that the AI health assistant is built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for reliability and scalability, with 24/7 accessibility via WhatsApp.
By leveraging AI technology, he said it provides personalised health support to both patients and healthcare professionals bridging critical gaps in medication management, preventive care, mental health support, and health education.
