Description
Gardasil 4 is a vaccine designed to protect against four types of human papillomavirus (HPV): types 6, 11, 16, and 18. It is widely used to prevent HPV-related diseases, including cervical cancer and genital warts.
Uses:
- Prevention of Cervical Cancer: Gardasil 4 protects against HPV types 16 and 18, which are responsible for about 70% of cervical cancer cases.
- Prevention of Genital Warts: The vaccine also protects against HPV types 6 and 11, which cause approximately 90% of genital warts.
- Prevention of Other HPV-Related Cancers: Gardasil 4 provides protection against cancers of the vulva, vagina, anus, and oropharynx that are linked to HPV types 16 and 18.
- Prevention of Precancerous Lesions: The vaccine helps prevent precancerous lesions in the cervix (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia or CIN), vulva, and vagina.
